Weed Delivery in Mountain View and Palo Alto

Purple Lotus delivers cannabis to Mountain View and Palo Alto seven days a week, 9 AM to 10 PM, from two licensed San Jose dispensaries. Same-day delivery covers both cities on 1 to 2 hour windows you choose at checkout, with the last orders taken at 9 PM, a $50 order minimum and a flat $3.99 delivery fee. You will need valid 21+ ID matching the name on the order.

Neither city permits cannabis retail storefronts, which is why there is nowhere local to walk into, and why licensed delivery is how most residents of both buy.

Two cities, one delivery area

Mountain View and Palo Alto sit next to each other on the Peninsula and share the same situation: no storefronts permitted, full legal access to delivery.

California cities can decline to allow cannabis businesses within their limits. What they cannot do is block licensed delivery. That position was upheld in court when local governments challenged the state regulation authorising delivery into any city, and reinforced for medical patients by SB 1186, effective 2024.

We cover both cities on the same terms, from the same stores.

Enter your address at checkout to confirm coverage and see available windows. Coverage is drawn from delivery zones rather than ZIP codes alone, so it is worth entering the address even if you are unsure.

How long it takes

Standard same-day delivery serves both cities on 1 to 2 hour windows chosen at checkout.

Lotus NOW priority delivery, the 45-minute service, covers the San Jose zone rather than the Peninsula. Worth stating plainly rather than implying a faster service than we run here. Both cities get reliable same-day delivery on a scheduled window.

Both are a genuine drive from our San Jose stores, so ordering earlier in the day gives you meaningfully more choice of windows than ordering late.

Shoreline Amphitheatre days are the exception worth planning around. On a concert night, traffic along Shoreline Boulevard and the 101 exits in North Bayshore becomes difficult for hours. If you are in Mountain View on a show night, order in the morning or early afternoon.

Fees, minimums and payment

Order minimum$50
Delivery fee$3.99 flat
Delivery hours9 AM to 10 PM, daily, 365 days a year; last same-day orders 9 PM
PaymentDebit card (PIN), cash, or Treez Pay ACH (flat $5 fee)

Every order earns 5% cashback through Lotus Rewards.

On tax: both cities sit in Santa Clara County, so state excise plus county and local cannabis tax apply. The checkout total is authoritative.

What you need at the door

  • Valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID showing you are 21 or older
  • The name must match the order. Drivers cannot hand off to anyone else
  • Someone 21+ present to receive it, since cannabis cannot be left unattended
  • Medical patients 18 to 20 need a physician's recommendation and a state MMIC

A necessary note about the university. Deliveries go to private residences. Stanford campus housing, dormitories, university buildings and campus parking are not appropriate delivery destinations, and the 21+ requirement is enforced without exception regardless of what a student ID says. If you live in Palo Alto proper, you are covered normally.

For apartments and gated complexes, common in both downtowns and along El Camino, add your gate code and unit number in the delivery notes. Access problems are the most common preventable cause of a late handoff.

Who actually delivers

State rules are strict about this, and it is worth knowing on the Peninsula where everything else arrives by app. A licensed retailer cannot sell or transfer cannabis to a customer through an unlicensed third party, intermediary or broker. A retailer may contract with a technology platform to take orders, but that platform cannot carry out the delivery and cannot take a share of the sale.

So the person at your door is an employee of the licensed store the order came from, carrying an order that was prepared there. Ours drive from Commercial Street or West Santa Clara Street with our own licence numbers on the paperwork. If you ever order cannabis from a service that will not name the retailer behind it, that is the question to ask.

What you can order

The full menu of over 1,000 lab-tested products, with no reduced delivery selection.

Flower by weight, pre-rolls, vapes and cartridges, concentrates including live resin and rosin, edibles, tinctures, topicals and CBD.

Brands stocked regularly: STIIIZY, Raw Garden, Jeeter, Alien Labs, Cookies, Wyld, Heavy Hitters, PlugPlay, Camino, Rove, and Blue Chip, the Purple Lotus house brand.

Stock rotates between the two stores, so the live menu is the reliable source rather than any list on a page, including this one. If you want something specific, confirm it is available before building the rest of the order around it.

On price comparisons: California cannabis carries excise plus local tax, so a shelf price at one store and a checkout price at another are not comparable figures. A few products are priced tax-inclusive, where the shelf number is the final number. It is always worth asking which you are looking at.

First delivery: what to expect

Enter your address first. Pricing, availability and delivery windows all reflect the store fulfilling your order.

Browse the live menu. Real stock levels, not a static catalogue.

Choose your window at checkout. This is the main difference from San Jose: you pick a 1 to 2 hour slot rather than watching a countdown.

Verify your ID once. A one-time step for new customers; every order after is faster.

Meet the driver with ID ready. Under a minute if you are prepared.

The usual friction points: an expired ID, a name not matching the order, nobody 21+ available to receive, and a gate the driver cannot pass. All avoidable, most before you check out.

Shoreline Amphitheatre nights

Worth its own section, because it is the one predictable disruption in this delivery area.

Shoreline Amphitheatre holds around 22,000 people and sits in North Bayshore, right off the 101. On a show night, traffic along Shoreline Boulevard and the surrounding exits becomes genuinely difficult for several hours either side of the event, and that affects a delivery van exactly as it affects everyone else.

If there is a show on and you are in Mountain View, order in the morning or early afternoon. A window that would normally be comfortable gets tight when 22,000 people are arriving or leaving.

The same applies in reverse: a delivery scheduled for immediately after a show ends is the hardest slot in the day to hit.

And to state it plainly: cannabis cannot legally be consumed in public in California, and Shoreline prohibits it on its own terms. Anything you order is for your own private residence, before you head out or after you get home. If you are going to a show, the sensible pattern is to sort things at home first, and to take Caltrain or a ride rather than drive.

Ordering for a group

Only the person who placed the order can receive it, and their ID must match. If you order and then go out, nobody else can accept on your behalf.

Daily purchase limits are per person: 28.5 grams of flower and 8 grams of concentrate for adult-use customers. Buying for several people does not raise your own allowance.

Place it early. For an evening delivery, order in the afternoon rather than an hour beforehand.

A little about both cities

Mountain View is best known now for the tech campuses in North Bayshore, but the part that matters day to day is Castro Street, a genuinely good downtown, walkable, dense with restaurants, right beside the Caltrain station. Shoreline Amphitheatre sits at the northern edge and defines the city's summer calendar. Shoreline Park and the Baylands trails run along the water.

Palo Alto centres on University Avenue, with Stanford immediately west. Midtown and Barron Park are the residential heart, and the Baylands Nature Preserve on the eastern edge is among the better stretches of open space on the Peninsula.

For delivery, what matters is that both are compact and well-gridded. Once a driver is in either city, moving between neighbourhoods is quick.

Delivery, or the drive?

The honest comparison.

Driving to San Jose from either city takes roughly 20 to 35 minutes depending on where you start and what the 101 or 280 is doing. Add parking, time in store and the drive back: comfortably over an hour of your own time, more at rush hour.

Delivery costs you a window rather than your attention.

The trip makes sense if you want to browse or want advice in person. Delivery makes sense on most other occasions, and clearly so from this distance.

The obvious point applies: if you have already consumed, driving is not an option. California enforces cannabis DUI the same way it enforces alcohol DUI.

Prefer to collect?

Both stores are a manageable drive and both carry the full menu.

752 Commercial Street, north San Jose: on-site parking, straightforward from the 101 or 880.

66 West Santa Clara Street, downtown San Jose: near VTA light rail, better if you are heading into the city anyway.

Order online and collect when ready. That converts a browse into a pickup, which is considerably faster at a busy hour. Same valid 21+ ID required either way.

A note on Caltrain

Both cities sit on the Caltrain line, which matters for anyone travelling to San Jose without a car. Downtown San Jose's Diridon Station is a short ride, and our downtown store is a manageable distance from there.

It is a genuinely reasonable option if you would rather not drive, and the obviously correct one if you have consumed anything.
