Weed Delivery in Sunnyvale: Zones, ETAs and How It Works

Sunnyvale has no dispensary of its own, so delivery is the whole legal market here. Purple Lotus reaches every address in the city, every day, 9 AM to 10 PM, from two licensed San Jose stores. Every ZIP is served, 94085 through 94089, in 1 to 2 hour windows you pick at checkout. The minimum is $50, the fee is a flat $3.99, and the handover needs valid 21+ ID in the name on the order.

The city has never licensed a storefront, so there is nothing local to walk into. Buying from a licensed retailer that delivers here is legal, and it is how the city actually buys.

Why there is no dispensary in Sunnyvale

California cities decide independently whether to permit cannabis businesses inside their limits. A number of Santa Clara County cities have declined to allow retail storefronts, and Sunnyvale is one of them.

What a city cannot do is block licensed delivery. State law permits licensed retailers to deliver anywhere in California, including into jurisdictions with no storefronts of their own. That position was upheld in court when local governments challenged it, and reinforced for medical patients by SB 1186, effective 2024.

So the practical position for a Sunnyvale resident: no local shop, full legal access to delivery. San Jose, immediately next door, is where the licensed retailers are.

Where we deliver in Sunnyvale

Same-day delivery covers the entire city. Areas we serve regularly:

AreaNotes
Downtown Sunnyvale / Murphy AvenueThe historic centre, near the Caltrain station
El Camino Real corridorRuns the width of the city
Ponderosa Park & Cherry ChaseSouth Sunnyvale residential
Lakewood & North SunnyvaleNorth of the 237
Lawrence Expressway corridorToward the Santa Clara border
Mathilda Avenue corridorNorth-south spine, tech campuses
Sunnyvale West / Fair OaksToward the Mountain View line

ZIP codes served: 94085, 94086, 94087, 94088, 94089. If your ZIP is not on that list, enter the address anyway, because coverage is drawn from delivery zones rather than postcodes alone.

Enter your address at checkout to confirm coverage and see the delivery windows available to you.

How long it takes

Every Sunnyvale order runs on the scheduled same-day service, in a 1 to 2 hour slot you choose yourself.

Lotus NOW priority delivery, our 45-minute service, covers the San Jose zone, not Sunnyvale. That is worth being straight about rather than implying a faster service than we actually run here. Sunnyvale gets same-day, window-based delivery, which is reliable and predictable but not a 45-minute countdown.

What affects your window:

Where in Sunnyvale you are. The eastern side, toward the Lawrence Expressway and the Santa Clara border, is closest to our dispatching stores. The western edge toward Mountain View adds a little.

Time of day. Early afternoon is quietest. Evenings, especially Friday and Saturday, carry the most volume, and the final windows before the 10 PM close fill first.

Order earlier for more choice. The practical difference between ordering at 3 PM and 9 PM is not really speed. It is how many windows are still available.

Fees, minimums and payment

Order minimum$50
Delivery fee$3.99 flat
Delivery hours9 AM to 10 PM, daily, 365 days a year; last same-day orders 9 PM
PaymentDebit card (PIN), cash, or Treez Pay ACH (flat $5 fee)

Between rewards, bundle deals and daily discounts, reaching the $50 minimum is rarely the hard part. Every order also earns 5% cashback through Lotus Rewards.

On tax: menu prices are pre-tax. State excise applies to every order, with Santa Clara County’s local cannabis tax on top of it. The checkout total is the number that leaves your account.

What you need at the door

  • A current photo ID proving you are 21 or older, in the name on the order
  • You in person. A roommate, a partner or a neighbour cannot sign for it
  • Nothing gets left in a lobby, a porch or a mailroom. The driver leaves with it if nobody eligible is there
  • Anyone 18 to 20 buying medicinally brings the physician’s recommendation and the state card issued against it

For apartments and gated complexes, which cover a good deal of north Sunnyvale and the Mathilda corridor: add your gate code and unit number in the delivery notes at checkout. Access problems are the most common cause of a delayed handoff, and they are entirely preventable.

A note for the tech campuses: deliveries go to private residences. A corporate office, a campus building or a parking structure is not a valid delivery address, regardless of how much time you spend there.

What counts as ID at the door

The state names the documents, and the list is shorter than people assume. It is a government-issued document carrying your name, date of birth, height, gender and photo, which in practice means a driver licence or a state ID card; a military identification card with name, date of birth and photo; or a valid passport, issued either by the United States or by another country.

Everything else fails, including a photo of your licence on your phone, a document that has expired, and a student card from any of the campuses around here. The driver has to confirm both age and identity before handing anything over, which is the step that adds half a minute at the door. Medicinal customers aged 18 to 20 have their physician’s recommendation checked at the same time.

What you can order

Everything the stores carry reaches Sunnyvale. The live menu runs past 1,000 lab-tested products and nothing is held back for walk-in customers.

  • Flower, eighths through ounces, across indica, sativa and hybrid
  • Pre-rolls, singles, packs and infused
  • Vapes and cartridges, including STIIIZY, Heavy Hitters, Rove and PlugPlay
  • Concentrates: live resin, rosin, badder, sauce, diamonds
  • Edibles: gummies, chocolates, drinks
  • Tinctures, topicals and CBD

Regular stock covers STIIIZY and PlugPlay on the vape side, Raw Garden and Jeeter across pre-rolls and concentrate, Wyld and Camino for edibles, and Blue Chip, the flower Purple Lotus grows in San Jose.

Individual items move between the two stores during the week, so treat the menu on screen as the stock list and anything written on a page, this one included, as a snapshot. Check a specific item is showing before you build an order around it.

First delivery in Sunnyvale: what to expect

Worth reading if you have not ordered before, because a few steps catch people out.

Start with the address. Pricing, stock and the windows on offer all come from whichever store will actually fill the order, so nothing you see before that is reliable.

Shop the live menu. What is listed is what is on the shelf at that moment, not a brochure.

Take a window. Sunnyvale runs on booked slots rather than the San Jose countdown, so the question is which two hour block suits you, not how fast a driver can get here.

Clear the ID check once. New customers verify identity a single time, and it never comes up again.

Be there with the ID. Thirty seconds at the door if it is already in your hand.

Four things account for nearly every failed handover in this city: an ID that has expired, an order placed in somebody else's name, an empty flat at the window you booked, and a gate with no code in the notes. Three of them are settled before you check out.

Ordering for a group

Worth knowing if you are the one placing the order for a household.

The order belongs to whoever placed it. Go out and leave friends at home and the driver takes it back, because there is no way to transfer it at the door. Household orders come unstuck on this more than anything else.

The daily cap is per person rather than per order: 28.5 grams of flower and 8 grams of concentrate. Collecting money from four people does not raise what one person may buy.

Plan the timing. If the order is for the evening, place it in the afternoon. Waiting until an hour beforehand puts you in the busiest window of the day and the thinnest choice of slots.

A little about Sunnyvale

Sunnyvale sits at the heart of Silicon Valley, and its character reflects that: major tech campuses alongside long-established residential neighbourhoods and one of the better-preserved downtown cores on the Peninsula.

Murphy Avenue is the historic heart, a walkable stretch of restaurants and bars beside the Caltrain station, and home to the farmers market. El Camino Real runs the width of the city. Las Palmas Park and Ortega Park anchor the residential south, and the Baylands sit at the northern edge near the 237.

What helps here is the street grid. Sunnyvale is flat, compact and laid out in squares, so once a driver crosses the city line the last mile is quick, which is why coverage is even rather than patchy at the edges.

Delivery, or the drive to San Jose?

Worth laying out honestly.

The drive to either San Jose store runs 15 to 25 minutes from most of Sunnyvale, longer when the 101 or the 280 is busy. Add the car park, the queue inside and the return leg and the errand has taken an hour.

Delivery costs you a window rather than your attention. You keep doing whatever you were doing.

Go in person when you want to look at something properly or talk it through with staff. Take the window for everything else.

And the part that should not need saying: if you have already had something, do not drive. Cannabis DUI is enforced here exactly as drink driving is.

Prefer to collect?

Both stores are an easy run from Sunnyvale and both hold the full menu.

752 Commercial Street sits in north San Jose with its own car park, and it is the simpler trip from the Lawrence Expressway side of the city.

66 West Santa Clara Street is the downtown store, a short walk from light rail, which suits anyone heading into the city anyway.

Ordering ahead and collecting turns a browse into a two minute pickup, which is worth doing at a busy hour. The same 21+ ID is needed either way.

Nearby cities we also serve

If you are in Sunnyvale you are close to several of these, and all are covered:

Mountain View · Cupertino · Santa Clara · Los Altos · Palo Alto · Campbell · Saratoga · San Jose · Milpitas · Los Gatos

More than 50 Bay Area cities in total. Several, like Sunnyvale, have no storefront of their own, which is the single most common reason people in this part of the Peninsula end up on delivery rather than driving somewhere. If a neighbouring city interests you, each has its own delivery page with local zones and detail.
