30th Annual AIDS Walk S.F.

For many Californians AIDS is not just something that is heard about on the news; it is an extremely real disease affecting friends, coworkers, neighbors, and relatives. According to the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, San Francisco has one of the largest HIV-positive populations in the United States with an estimated 15,979 people living with HIV – that equates to 1 out of every 54 people. That is one of the reasons why Purple Lotus Patient Center knew that it was imperative to participate in the 30th Annual AIDS Walk San Francisco. The walk, held on Sunday, July 17, at Sharon Meadows Golden State Park, commenced at 10:30 AM and was attended by approximately 20,000 people.

Purple Lotus Patient Center is proud to have contributed $2,500 toward the $2.27 million raised this year for Project Inform and a coalition of 42 Bay Area AIDS services organizations, including Team Cannabis, which the Purple Lotus was lucky enough to join forces with for this years walk. These essential agencies provide support for people living with HIV/AIDS, HIV prevention services, and critical advocacy efforts to end the epidemic. This year’s AIDS walk was such a positive experience for everyone involved and a great way to give back to the community.
